Croatia Welcomes British Tourists with New Manchester Flights and Stunning Coastal Escapes

Sunday, March 2, 2025

While many European destinations are imposing tourism restrictions, Croatia is embracing British travelers with open arms. In 2024, Croatia recorded a 9% increase in UK visitor arrivals, and with new direct flights launching from Manchester Airport in 2025, that number is expected to rise even further.

Jet2 Expands Manchester to Pula Flights

Jet2 has expanded its 2025 flight schedule from Manchester Airport (MAN) to Pula (PUY), making it easier than ever for British travelers to explore Croatia’s northern coastline. This move aligns with the Croatian National Tourist Board’s (CNTB) strategy to diversify travel beyond Dubrovnik and Split, encouraging visitors to discover new destinations.

Located on the Istrian Peninsula, Pula is Croatia’s seventh-largest city and an ideal getaway for those seeking history, culture, and Adriatic beauty. With its Venetian influences, Roman architecture, and picturesque beaches, Pula offers a charming alternative to Croatia’s southern hotspots.

Pula: A Coastal Gem with Roman and Venetian Heritage

One of Pula’s top attractions is its 2,000-year-old Roman amphitheatre, one of the best-preserved in the world. The Pula Arena, still used for concerts and cultural events, has been compared to Rome’s Colosseum, but with smaller crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Visitors can also explore Pula’s Old Town, where Italian and Venetian influences are evident in the architecture, streets, and local cuisine. Just an hour away lies Rovinj, a coastal town built by the Venetians, often described as a mini Venice without the canals.

Coastal Adventures: Beaches and Island-Hopping in the Adriatic

For beach lovers, Pula offers a mix of pebble and rocky coastlines, with crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Travelers are advised to pack water shoes to navigate Croatia’s famous rocky shores.

Those looking for nature and adventure can explore Brijuni National Park, a breathtaking archipelago of islands just off the coast. Protected as a national park by the Croatian Ministry of Tourism, Brijuni is home to lush landscapes, ancient ruins, and diverse wildlife.

Croatia’s Growing Appeal for British Tourists

According to the Croatian Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Croatia remains one of the top 10 most Googled travel destinations globally. Its blend of history, nature, and affordability continues to attract UK visitors, with Pula now emerging as a must-visit destination.

With direct Manchester-Pula flights, historic sites, Venetian-style towns, and Adriatic beach escapes, Croatia is set to be a top summer destination for British travelers in 2025.
